What It Is

Signalling material, delivered into the skin.

Exosomes are tiny vesicles that cells use to carry signals to one another. In aesthetic practice, a concentrated preparation of them is applied into skin or scalp immediately after controlled micro-channelling, so the material reaches the level where it can act.

The theory is straightforward: rather than adding a filler or forcing a wound-healing response with energy alone, this approach aims to influence the signalling that governs repair. In practice it is used most often as a companion to microneedling or laser, where the channels are already open and the skin is primed to take it up.

We would rather be plain about where this sits. Exosome science is an active and fast-moving research area, and the clinical evidence in aesthetics is still developing — it does not yet carry the track record that established protocols do. We offer it as an adjunct within a wider plan, never as a replacement for the treatments that have one.

What patients usually ask before their first visit.

What are exosomes?

They are very small vesicles that cells release to carry signals to other cells. In aesthetic use, a concentrated preparation is delivered into skin or scalp to support the tissue's own repair signalling.

Is this proven?

It is an active research area rather than a settled one. The laboratory rationale is sound and early clinical reports are encouraging, but the aesthetic evidence base is still developing, so we position it as an adjunct rather than a headline treatment.

How is it different from PRP?

PRP is prepared from your own blood during the appointment. An exosome preparation is a manufactured product applied after micro-channelling. They are used for overlapping concerns, and which one suits you is a consultation decision.

How many sessions will I need?

It is usually planned as a short course spaced a few weeks apart, often alongside microneedling, and reviewed as your response shows rather than committed to upfront.

What is the downtime?

Expect redness and a warm, tight feeling for a day, similar to microneedling. Sun protection afterwards is not optional.

Who isn't suitable?

Active skin infection at the site, pregnancy and breastfeeding, and some medical conditions. Your history is reviewed at consultation, and where this is not appropriate for you we will say so.
